Accompanied by a speculative short story, the piece envisions a future where sleep is commodified, dreams are forgotten, and artificial light dominates. Dark Light prompts reflection on the importance of darkness, rest, and the unseen effects of an always-on society.
INSTALLATION ART
Dark Light is an immersive installation exploring the effects of light pollution and the loss of natural darkness. Using a curated collection of thrifted objects, a nightstand scene is bathed in glowing blue light, with hidden hand painted phosphorescent paint revealing itself in the dark. Visitors must step behind a curtain into a small, enclosed space, simulating the rarity of true night in an over-illuminated world.
